Lawmakers oppose mayor’s plan to use revenue share money

from KTUU Channel 2: Anchorage homeowners have gotten used to revenue sharing money over the past through years. The money is made up of millions and millions of dollars sent to Anchorage and other cities in Alaska.

In the past it’s been used to reduce property taxes, but under Mayor Dan Sullivan’s budget, homeowners won’t be getting that money this year.

That’s fired up a lot of Anchorage democratic legislators.

Monday 11 state lawmakers [including State Senator Hollis French] signed a letter asking Sullivan to reverse his plan and use an estimated $15 million of state revenue sharing money to lower property taxes instead of using it to pay for city expenses.
