Strategic Gas Initiative

We need to create an emergency storehouse of natural gas for Southcentral Alaska. Neither a bullet line, nor a spur line from a big pipeline is going to get here fast enough to fix our problem. Many people have studied the issue and the conclusion is that it is not so much gas supply, but rather gas deliverability, which is at the root of the problem.

Crime and Safe Communities

My work as an assistant district attorney taught me that unless Alaska’s citizens feel safe and secure in their homes, work places and public places, then our public safety system has not done its job.

Education: Demand Excellence

Education is the backbone of a strong society. Moreover, in Alaska education is a constitutional mandate: Article VII commands the legislature to ‘establish and maintain a system of public schools open to all children of the state.’

Equal Rights

Our constitution’s promise of equal protection under the law is still in the process of fulfillment. It seems as though each generation must renew the effort, expanding the boundaries of equality through activism, political discourse, or civil disobedience.
